Pastor Mark L. Stevens

Pastor Mark came to know Jesus Christ as his Savior and was baptized at the age of nine. He preached his first sermon at age 15 and was licensed to preach at age nineteen. He struggled with God’s call to become a pastor from age 15-18. He received a scholarship to become an architect, but after graduation from high school, accepted God’s call and sought to grow in experience as a Christian leader. He led Bible studies and other youth programs with high school youth and later with college age students. During his college years he was a Youth Pastor and an Interim Senior Pastor.

He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Sioux Falls in 1974, with a major in English and a minor in Speech and Drama. Pastor Mark received a Master of Divinity degree in 1977 from Sioux Falls Seminary, with a major in Biblical theology and a minor in Christian Education. He was ordained by his home church, First Baptist, of Tekamah, Nebraska in September, 1977. He has pastored churches in Omaha, Nebraska and Overland Park, Kansas before coming to Arizona.

Pastor Mark has directed eighteen youth camps, served on Baptist denominational boards of Education, Evangelism and Ordination as well as serving as a Trustee of Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Lombard, Illinois. He and his wife, Robyn, have an adult son named Joshua.  

Byron (Bud) Eberwein
Elder Emeritus

Bud served in World War 2 in the Army Air Corp as a pilot. After the war Bud attended General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan school of Engineering.
Bud was a member of First Baptist Church in Troy, Ohio serving in many areas. He served as the building chairman when they built a new church and served as chairman on two additions.
Moving to Sun City, AZ . He joined Bellevue Heights Church, serving there for 30 years. He was chairman of the building committee when they built the sanctuary in 1985. He also served as co-chairman with Bill Wright when they built the Ruth Hoover Chapel. He built the stained glass windows in the chapel as well as many other windows in the area including the windows at the Forum Retirement Home in Peoria.
Bud served 10 years on the board of Sunshine Service in Sun City serving as president for 2 years.
Bud is a member of the Aqua Fria Kawains Club.
Bud is a member of Amazing Grace Church and is Chairman of the Elders.

Marty Spargo Chairman of the Elders
Prior to moving to Sun City, Marty served as Deacon on the Deacon Elder Board of Century Baptist Church, Bismarck, North Dakota for several years. He was a member of the Diaconate of Bellevue Heights Church, serving in the role of Deacon and elected Chair of Deacons for a period of one year. Marty was involved in Deacon visitation of shut-ins as well as church trips and tours scheduling.

For the last eight years, he served as Chaplain of VFW Post 10695 in Sun City West, Arizona and was selected to serve one year as Chaplain of VFW District 3 of the State of Arizona.

Involved in the Gideon ministry, he served as Chaplain, President and Secretary of the Maricopa Northwest Gideon Camp. Also being elected and served one year as the Gideon Scripture Distribution Chair for the State of Arizona.  “I place my trust in Proverbs 3: 5-6 and strongly believe we are chosen to serve. John 15: 16”

Ruth Clarke   Church Pianist

Ruth received a Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Arizona University.  She has been the pianist at several churches throughout her career.  We greatly appreciate her ability and commitment to our church.
